Snow Show

(Road to Twin Peaks, San Francisco)

(Monday, 7 pm). It’s rainy and cold outside, I am sitting on the much celebrated eBay shuttle bus and I am on my way home. Our driver got lost and instead of taking Highway 17 up north, he just took it south. Great. Who knows where we will end up. It’s dark and I hope he finds the right exit soon. It’s pretty hard to miss the San Francisco signs, I think by myself. “Let’s cut him some slack, maybe he has bad vision,” says a snarky co-worker.

But why are we complaining? It’s not like we’re stuck under an East Coast snow cover. Chances are pretty high we’ll make it home tonight. One of my friends is stuck in New York with her family and it looks like she will get to spend tons of quality time before there will be a way out. She sounds really thrilled. I waste my time on the bus looking at the beautiful pictures the New York Times readers have submitted. Their comments crack me up. Many people usually want less government, but today they want more of it. They want Mayor Bloomberg to go out personally and shovel their driveways and sidewalks with a big yellow spade.

My friends and family in Europe are having a pretty rough winter as well. To everyone out there on both sides of the ocean: take care and stay warm and dry.
